Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease: A Comparison of Racetam Compounds and Current Medication
نویسنده
چکیده
The purpose of this paper is to examine whether oxiracetam and aniracetam are more effective than donepezil and tacrine, two drugs currently used to treat Alzheimer’s disease. Past research suggests that oxiracetam and aniracetam are more therapeutically efficacious than donepezil and tacrine in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease symptoms (i.e., cognitive deterioration, tolerability, and quality of life). Oxiracetam and aniracetam appear to reverse the cognitive deficits of Alzheimer’s disease, whereas donepezil and tacrine seem to only slow down the deterioration of cognitive abilities. Research also suggests that oxiracetam and aniracetam may cause improvements in quality of life, whereas donepezil and tacrine provide mild, if any, improvement in quality of life. Future research on Alzheimer’s treatment should be conducted on large populations and focus on direct comparisons of the efficacy between Racetam and non-Racetam compounds. Ligand-based pharmacophore modeling to identify plant-derived acetylcholinesterase inhibitor natural compounds in Alzheimer’s disease
Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by decreased cognitive function in patients due to forming Aβ peptides and neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) in the brain. Therefore, the need to develop new treatments can reduce this risk. Acetylcholinesterase is one of the targets used in the design of new drugs for the treatment of AD. The researchers obtain new i...

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease and the leading cause of dementia worldwide. Epidemiological studies support the important role of diet in prevention and improvement of AD. In Traditional Persian Medicine (TPM), there is multiple dietary guidelines to prevent and alleviate dementia and memory impairment. Pharmacological studies have been shown that most of the TPM-recomm...
متن کاملThe effect of flavonoids in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease: review article
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most prevalent age-related neurodegenerative disorder worldwide, and no cure or prevention has been found for it. Extracellular senile plaque and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles are two important histopathological hallmarks of AD, which are both harmful for the cell. Senile plaques are composed of amyloid beta and neurofibrillary tangles are formed by hyper...

Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disease characterized by abnormal protein accumulation, synaptic dysfunction, and cognitive impairment. Peroxisome proliferator-activated gamma receptors (PPARγ) play a crucial role in regulating insulin sensitivity and may serve as potential therapeutic targets for AD. Pioglitazone (Piog) as a PPARγ agonist reduce β-amyloid ...

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) as a complicated and progressive neurodegenerative disorder is the most common form of dementia and memory loss. On account of the multifactorial etiology of AD, the multi-target-directed ligand (MTDL) approach is a promising method in searching new drug candidates for this disease. Here, in this paper more than 500 tacrine-coumarin hybrids have been designed and drug-l...
